Singing for stronger nature laws

Climate Choir Melbourne were invited to sing while guests arrived at the Australian Conservation Foundation’s public forum at the Hawthorn Arts Centre on 10 November 2023. The forum was a discussion on the weakness of our national nature laws (under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act) and how these rules are in fact failing to protect nature.

Speakers included local Federal MPs Monique Ryan (Independent) and Michelle Ananda-Rajah (ALP) together with expert speakers from the ACF, and audience questions. Our repertoire for the evening included songs about threatened species, forests and sustainability. Julian Meehan (@julian.meehan.portrait) was there with his camera – thanks!

Hi Eve, actually we have a rehearsal on Sunday this weekend, 3-5pm at St Phillips Church, in Hoddle Street just north of Collingwood Town Hall and close to Collingwood Station. There is a smaller choir in Geelong and a few of them will be coming to that rehearsal. Please write to climatechoirmelbourne@gmail.com if you would like to be put on our mailing list. Rehearsals are every couple of months, or just turn up at a gig (normally advertised on our Facebook page) and introduce yourself.
